Odsonne Edouard makes a bold statement about his future, and what it could mean for his tenure in Glasgow with Celtic going forward.

There have been plenty of rumours of Odsonne Edouard seeing his exit from Celtic in the last few months, especially during the winter transfer window. English Premier League clubs, such as Manchester United and Chelsea, have had interest in the striker according to Goal.

Other massive clubs in Europe have had their eye on the Frenchman, and it just seems a matter of time until he is sold by the Celtic board for a fee that should easily break records for the club.

However, Odsonne Edouard is not worrying about his possible departure. Instead, he is focused on becoming the best striker in the world. That starts with continuing his level of play with the Hoops, and then making the French national team.

Odsonne Edouard, speaking with the Goal, stated his lofty goal:

"““I would like to become the best striker in the world.”"

To obtain that goal, he may have to make the move to one of the larger football league in Europe, whether it be England, Germany, or Spain. However, he insists that he is very much enjoying his time with the Hoops.

Speaking with Goal, Odsonne Edouard enlightens fans on his time with the Hoops:

"“Today I’m at Celtic, I have two years left on my contract, I’m very happy here and I enjoy myself.“For now, there’s still two years on my contract and I am more focused on the five months that we have left for the rest of this season and the two titles we are competing for.“And then we’ll see what happens after.”"

Hoops fans need to enjoy Odsonne Edouard while we have him. He is one of the more prolific goal scorers we have seen in years, and it is unlikely that the Celtic board will pass up the chance to make a King’s Ransom on Edouard’s transfer.

We just might one day say that the greatest striker in the world began his prolific career with Celtic.
