Neil Lennon provided a positive injury update about Jeremie Frimpong as he revealed when the youngster will be back to training with the rest of the Celtic squad.

It is no secret that Celtic have struggled with injuries this season. A number of stars have been out at some point or the other. And that is no surprise considering the amount of football that the Hoops play every season.

One player who profited from it though is Jeremie Frimpong. He arrived in the summer from Manchester City and much was not made of it. He was just seen as a project signing who would spend a few seasons in the developmental side or away on loan and then hopefully one day end up in the senior squad.

It is safe to say that he has exceeded all those expectations and then some. Early in the season, Elhamed had established himself as the first-choice right-back. But constant injuries to the Israeli gave an opportunity to the 19-year-old to break in, with Bauer failing to impress. And he took it with both hands.

Frimpong is without doubt the find of the season in Scottish football and has been one of Celtic’s most consistent performers when he has been on the pitch. And before getting injured, he had firmly established himself in the first-team setup.

Now, it looks like he could set for a comeback soon. Speaking to Celtic TV ahead of tomorrow’s game against Hearts, Neil Lennon said:

"“He’s just about finished his rehab, hopefully he’ll train Thursday with the rest of the squad.”"

The Dutch youngster had to be stretchered away at Kilmarnock after Alan Power decided to clatter into him without any reason, as the game was already over by then with Celtic winning 3-1 with not much time left on the clock. It was feared that Frimpong could be out for a long stretch of time but thankfully, the injury did not turn out to be as serious.
