Celtic travel to Motherwell on Wednesday to faceoff in a Scottish Premiership League matchup. We take a crack at predicting the Hoops’ starting XI.

Celtic will be facing their toughest challenge of the New Year when they take on Motherwell at Fir Park on Wednesday. Despite dropping points in each of their last two matches, Motherwell still sits at third in the Scottish Premiership League table.

The Hoops will need to field their best squad on Wednesday to ensure they don’t drop any points on the match. Celtic boss Neil Lennon has starting fielding a lineup that features two striker up top, and it has performed well. In each of the Hoops last four matches, the club has scored at least three goals.

The new formation has also reinvigorated Leigh Griffiths‘ career while also putting a spotlight on Odsonne Edouard‘s amazing talent. A change should not be expected in that regard on Wednesday.

Stephen Welsh made his debut for the Hoops on Sunday and was incredibly impressive. Hatem Abd Elhamed and Jeremie Frimpong have missed significant time with injury, and Neil Lennon has been looking to replace that production. Moritz Bauer was an option, but he hasn’t lived up to the expectations. Welsh could get the nod again.

Finally, despite Ryan Christie returning from his ban, he has not made the last two starting lineups, but that should change on Wednesday, considering his performance on Sunday against Hamilton.

The Celtic Bhoys Predicted Starting XI against Motherwell:

Greg Taylor had some issues during the match against Hamilton, but he looked strong against St. Johnstone, and should get the nod again. The lineup will likely look similar to the one Neil Lennon ran out against Hamilton due to the fact that there are so many injuries to each position to account for.
