Celtic defeated St. Johnstone 3-0 on Wednesday in spectacular fashion. Here is how we rated each player during the match.
Celtic made quick work of their Perth rivals after scoring three quick goals to start the match. Hoops boss Neil Lennon has started to institute a two-man front to the formation, and it has done wonders.
The big man performed admirably on Wednesday and added another clean sheet to his record. Not much more could have been asked from ‘The Wall’. He was an absolute steal during the summer window which saw him come over from Southampton.
His above average performance kept the St. Johnstone front from converting any of their attempts into goals.
Once again the Frenchman was brilliant. He has truly helped solidify the back line of the Hoops, and has proven to be a true star on the starting XI.
Kristoffer Ajer-6.5
Ajer played the full match, and is still the first choice at centre-back opposite of Jullien. The defender did just enough enough on Wednesday to justify his spot.
James Forrest-8.5
The midfielder looked almost non-existent near the end of the first half of the season. However, he kicked off his momentum in regaining form when he scored his first goal of the second half on Wednesday, while adding another assist.
Always the leader, always the veteran. His presence on the field is hard to quantify with his leadership capabilities. One has to give him credit when hit club keeps a clean sheet and still scores three goals.
There have been recent talks of Ntcham seeing his way out of the club. However, on Wednesday, he helped the Hoops by scoring a quick and early goal. Perhaps the midfielder proved why he should remain in the Green and White?
Callum McGregor-6.5
The midfielder helped set up some good runs that eventually turned into a goal by James Forrest. His moment is coming to find the back of the net, it just wasn’t on Wednesday.
Greg Taylor-7.5
The left-back made the most of his opportunity on the pitch. Neil Lennon seems to be giving him more time, and he has taken full advantage of it. He was credited the assist in Leigh Griffiths‘ goal.
Leigh Griffiths-9
The veteran striker has showed up in a big way in the second half. He has played in all four matches, and scored three goals. He also played the full 90-minutes on Wednesday, a stark improvement from his first half in which he had trouble staying fit.
Odsonne Edouard-7.5
The superstar never found the back of the net on Wednesday, but helped with setting up some fantastic attacks. His presence on the field gives the opposition an extra layer to defend.
The right-back came on to start the second half in place of Jozo. All in all, he looked good during his time on the pitch, and seems to be a player Lennon can count on going forward.
The new striker came on late for Edouard, and held the fort down. It will be interesting to see what he can do with a start.
