Celtic transfer blow as agent admits move will be ‘difficult’
By Kade Kistner
Celtic has been linked to Bristol City winger, Niclas Eliasson. However, his agent has all but killed talk of a transfer in recent days.
Celtic have been linked to numerous players this month, and have already done a good job at bringing in low-cost acquisitions to help reinforce the club. Hoops boss Neil Lennon believes that he has the pieces on the club already to make a push for nine-in-a-row.
While all of this sounds fantastic, the actual situation for the club is that another impact player is needed, and at the midfielder position. Mohamed Elyounoussi is a phenomenal example of the type of player the Hoops want to add to the club this month.
One name that has been connected to the club is Niclas Eliasson of Bristol City. The Daily Record first confirmed the link between the two sides. Niclas Eliasson is a fantastic winge who would automatically offer an upgrade, and cover fo the team.
However, expectations have been tempered by his agent, who speaking to The Sun, made the deal seem unlikely:
"“No, it’s going to be difficult. Bristol want to keep him for their aims to move up. Then he has an option in his contract the club will use.“Interest comes from big clubs and major leagues and clubs are looking to buy him now but Bristol has said no. That’s all I can say right now but in the summer window, something big could happen to Niclas.”"
Niclas Eliasson has scored three goals, but added 12 assists in 28 appearances this season, much of which have come in the form of Championship matches. With Neil Lennon switching to a two-man front in recent weeks, and winger who excels at putting players in scoring position would fit nicely into the squad.
However, as it stands, a move for Niclas Eliasson for any club seems unlikely until at least the summer transfer window.
