Following Rangers’ 2-1 loss away at Tynecastle Park against Hearts, John Hartson did not waste any time in making a Celtic title claim on Twitter.

Just a few weeks ago, dark clouds hung over Celtic Park. The defending Scottish champions had been decimated at home by their nearest championship rivals, Rangers, in a toothless display. And Steven Gerrard’s side had the opportunity to take the lead in the title race if they could win their game in hand. Fortunately, they have failed to so and as a result, put the Hoops back in the driver’s seat as we head into the business end of the season.

And the result came in the unlikeliest of places -Tynecastle Park. Hearts were on a terrible run of 10 games without a win. That all changed on Sunday though, as they beat out Rangers 2-1 with a late strike from new signing, Liam Boyce, sealing all three points for the hosts.

As a result, the Hoops now have their fate back in their own hands with a five-point lead over Steven Gerrard’s team in the Premiership table albeit the fact that they have played a game more. The title race is still very tight though and Neil Lennon’s men have to be careful not to repeat the mistakes of the past.

One man who is certainly on Celtic’s side in this title race is John Hartson. Having scored 109 times during his time Parkhead, there is no doubt where his loyalties lie. And following the game, Hartson sent out this tweet:

This is the best possible start that the Hoops could have asked for after returning from the winter break. Celtic have won all their games since the restart of the season and that is starting to pay off. The focus must now firmly be on not giving away any points though. If we’ve learned anything this season, it’s that there is nothing as volatile as single digit leads in the points table.
