Ismaila Soro’s signing was announced earlier but he is yet to join up with the Celtic squad and now we know the reason behind the transfer stalling.

After chasing Ismaila Soro for quite some time, Celtic finally manged to agree a deal with Israeli club Bnei Yehuda to bring the Ivory Coast midfielder to Parkhead. The deal is reported to cost the Hoops around 2-million. But Soro is yet to join the squad despite the club having announced that he had passed a medical.

And Neil Lennon has revealed that the reason behind this transfer snag is that there are some issues with the Ivorian’s paperwork. As a result, while he was expected to join with the squad already, it looks like his transfer is going to be set back for a little more time and he will be at Parkhead by next week.

As reported by Celtic’s official Twitter account, speaking with the media ahead of Celtic’s game against Ross County on Saturday, Lennon said:

"“We were hoping he would be here tomorrow but there’s been a hold up with the paperwork so he’ll hopefully be here early next week.”"

Celtic must be careful though that they sort out all the issues as soon as possible. With the transfer deadline coming up soon, the risk missing out on the Ivorian altogether if they do not manage to get his paperwork approved. And that is not good news for Neil Lennon’s side who will be add some dynamism to that midfield after being run over in the middle of the park by Rangers the last time the two sides met.

Dynamism is something that Soro will bring plenty of. He has been compared to N’Golo Kante for his all-action style and ability to cut off opposition attacks. And if he is even half as good as the French World Cup winner, Celtic have a gem on their hands. Let’s just hope they manage to get his paperwork done in time.
