Former Scottish footballer Alan Hutton has now warned one Celtic superstar about his recent behaviour that could have adverse effects.

Kris Boyd made some insane comments earlier in the season suggesting that Celtic superstar and striker, Leigh Griffiths had ‘just four weeks to save his career’. Now, after an electrifying performance again Kilmarnock on Wednesday, Boyd still cannot leave the striker alone as he continued to make degrading comments. Leigh Griffiths has had to take time off from football as he has struggled and battled with mental health issues, which has led to Boyd’s previous comments.

Instead of commending Leigh Griffiths for his actions, Kris Boyd has taken to attacking him for his struggles. In a seeming act of defiance, Leigh Griffiths has gotten two starts in the second half of the season, and has scored two goals in those appearances.

Mental health is a serious issue that is finally starting to gain traction as a real issue. Thanks to Leigh Griffiths, that issue is now at the forefront in Scottish football. With that in mind, Kris Boyd’s comments were at best irresponsible.

After scoring for a second time in as many matches, Leigh Griffiths made a gesture towards Kris Boyd during Wednesday’s match that can only be seen as an act of defiance to his biggest naysayer. However, some have not taken to agreement with Griffiths’ gesture.

Speaking with Football Insider, Alan Hutton urges Leigh Griffiths to not cause too much trouble despite the struggles he has overcome:

"“There’s been a lot of noise between him and Kris Boyd.“He needs to keep his head down, work hard and show his ability on the pitch. We all know he is a great player and we all know he can score goals and we need him for the national team.“Leave the nonsense behind and concentrate on doing what he does best – scoring goals. There has been a lot said about him, so that is a little bit of frustration coming out and hopefully that is out of his system now.”"

Despite if you agree with all of Alan Hutton’s comments, one thing we can all agree on is that Leigh Griffiths is best at scoring goals. When the man can take the pitch, he has the ability to not only be lethal, but to be the best player on the pitch.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon may be correct when he said that the best players Celtic could add in January are already on the club. Leigh Griffiths has proven that he can help turn the tide for the club in the coming months. He does not have anything to prove to Hoops fans, but he surely wants to prove himself to the mainstream media naysayers.
