Celtic boss Neil Lennon has provided an update on the injury to right-back Jeremie Frimpong after he was stretched off the field on Saturday evening.
Celtic youngster, and rapidly rising star Jeremie Frimpong was injured on Wednesday evening after taking a nasty challenge by Kilmarnock’s Alan Power. Jeremie Frimpong had to be stretched off the field due to the challenge, and in an unbelievable act by the referee, Alan Power was not booked.
Initially many thought Jeremie Frimpong’s injury could cost the lad significant time, but during the last few days, the prognosis has improved. It was even believed that a possibility to return to action on Saturday against Ross County was possible.
However, Celtic boss Neil Lennon put those rumours to rest on Friday during his press conference ahead of the Ross County match:
Luckily the Hoops skipper believes that the injury may not be as bad as initially thought, and hopefully the youngster only has to miss one match due to the unsightly challenge made by Alan Power.
With Jeremie Frimpong unfit for the match against Ross County due to injury, and Hatem Abd Elhamed also injured, Moritz Bauer will get his chance to start on Saturday. Moritz Bauer was brought in late during the summer transfer window. The right-back has made ten appearances for the Hoops this season, and has had his ups and downs on the pitch.
Moritz Bauer will need to take his opportunity on Saturday to prove he has earned more playing time on the squad.
