‘It’s baffled and bewildered me’ – Neil Lennon questions SFA
Neil Lennon has described himself as ‘baffled and bewildered’ at some of the SFA’s recent decisions regarding Celtic.
SFA’s disciplinary procedure has raised a lot of eyebrows over the past few weeks. The storm has been surrounding some of the decisions or the lack of them that have been taken in the aftermath of Celtic’s 2-1 loss at the hands of Steven Gerrard’s Rangers in the recent Glasgow Derby at Parkhead.
The biggest talking point coming out of the game was the throat-slitting gesture that Alfredo Morelos had appeared to make towards the Celtic fans after being sent off in the 96th minute for diving.
But inexplicably that has not led to the Colombian receiving any suspension. And after weeks of inaction, the SFA have revealed that Morelos had been given a third yellow card because of the incident. On the other hand, Ryan Christie was given a three-game just days after the match for what appeared to be an accidental grab of Morelos’ groin region.
When asked about the disciplinary process, Neil Lennon told Celtic TV:
"“There seems to be an inconsistency with that so it’s caused a lot of controversy and fury over the years. It’s baffled and bewildered me at times.“The recent one for me is the Ryan Christie case so I think that there has to be some sort of clarity for managers and players.”"
It is hard not to notice or question the difference between the harshness of the SFA’s decisions dealt to the two Glasgow sides. If we did not know better, we could be led to believe that the governing body actually wanted one of them to win the league this season, isn’t it?
Baffled and bewildered are exactly what fans all around Scotland also feel regarding the situation. And according to The Scotsman, the Scottish clubs have called for an urgent meeting with the SFA in order to discuss the disciplinary system.
