Celtic’s chase for the Victor Wanyama has taken a fresh twist as the Turkish giants have made the Kenyan a priority in this transfer window.

Celtic’s chase for Victor Wanyama is well documented. The Hoops have been trying to bring back the Kenyan to Parkhead in recent transfer windows after he has been completely frozen out at Tottenham Hotspur.

Injuries have completely derailed Wanyama’s career at the London club. After a brilliant first season at the club that saw him make 47 appearances, he was hailed as one of the best midfielders in world football. Since then it has not gone as planned for the Kenyan though.

In the following three seasons  he has managed just 50 appearances, finding the back of the net a paltry 2 times. Thus, it is nor surprise that he is interested in a move away from the club. In fact, it will be beneficial for both club and player, if the Kenyan is shipped out of London.

Wanyama seems to be a man in demand though as Galatasaray manager, Fatih Terim, has reportedly identified him as a key transfer target. According to reports in Turkish outlet Takvim, the Istanbul-based club are set to hold ‘a critical meeting’ with Tottenham Hotspur for the midfielder’s services.

This would seemingly come as a transfer blow for the Hoops, as Neil Lennon has already admitted that he would like to bring back the Kenyan to Glasgow. Wanyama would surely be a popular signing with the fans as they fondly remember from his time in Celtic colours. He spent two maginificent seasons at Parkhead before moving to the Premier League. And will always be a part of Celtic folklore for scoring in that famous 2-1 win over FC Barcelona in the Champions League.

A deal is unlikely to happen at this point though. Celtic just recently announced the signing of Ismaila Soro from Bnei Yehuda. And with the other midfielders that are already at Parkhead, it is hard to see where Wanyama would fit into Lennon’s plans.
