Celtic transfer target wants to join Rangers instead
By Kade Kistner
Celtic and Rangers have both been targeting a young striker from down South, but now, the striker has reportedly decided Rangers over the Hoops.
Celtic boss Neil Lennon continues to want to infuse talent into the club for the present and the future. Even after signing Polish-striker Patryk Klimala and Ivorian-midfielder Ismaila Soro, the Hoops are keeping an eye on who they may want to bring in this summer. One of those possible targets is Stoke City striker Tyrese Campbell.
The 20-year old has been absolutely electric this season for Stoke City as he has scored nine goals in 24 total appearances for the club. His pedigree makes him highly sought after, and has caught the eye of both major Glasgow clubs in Celtic and Rangers.
Celtic were hopeful that they could snag a type of player like Tyrese Campbell during this transfer window and beyond, but those hope were all but dashed when the striker made it known he would rather play for Rangers than the Hoops.
According to The Express, Tyrese Campbell appears near to making the move to Hoops cross-town rival Rangers:
"“Stoke striker Tyrese Campbell wants to join Rangers as the Scottish giants line up a move. Campbell has scored nine goals and provided two assists in all competitions this season, catching the eye of many UK clubs.”"
While this is disappointing news, especially considering it has to do with Rangers, now until June is a lot of time for Tyrese Campbell to have a change of heart. His decision to want to join Rangers makes some sense from a playing time standpoint.
After singing Patryk Klimala, the Hoops now have three capable strikers in Odsonne Edouard, Leigh Griffiths and Klimala. Tyrese Campbell’s arrival would create a glut of strikers, and could provide difficult in helping all of them get playing time if none are moved next summer.
