Kris Boyd tells Celtic target not to leave current club
By Kade Kistner
Former Scottish footballer, Kris Boyd, has advised one of Celtic’s reported transfer targets to remain with his current club.
Celtic have been reported in having interest in Hearts defender Aaron Hickey, and at just 17-years old he is highly coveted. According to the Scottish Sun, not only do the Hoops have a keen interest in the left-back, but so do the likes of English Premier League-side Crystal Palace.
Hearts have struggled recently, and sit at the very bottom of the Scottish Premiership League table. Aaron Hickey has proven to be one of the few things that Hearts fans can truly feel good about when it comes to their club.
Considering Aaron Hickey is in Scotland, a move to the Hoops could make the most sense. From a development standpoint, the youngster could flourish under Neil Lennon, and his staff. However, how much time on the pitch would he actually get with the first team?
With that in mind, Kris Boyd spoke to Sky Sports and advised Aaron Hickey to remain with Hearts:
"“But he is only a young boy. I am always one to say stay at a club where you are going to play and get games. Get 100 or 150 games under your belt and then see where you are if you are going to get your move.”"
Kris Boyd may actually have a point here. By leaving to a bigger club, the experience Aaron Hickey would get from playing regularly on the first team would drastically reduce. Especially if he decided to make a move down south to the English Premier League.
Even a move to Celtic could prove difficult as he would have to compete for playing time with the likes Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo, Greg Taylor and even Johnny Hayes. However the lad’s future shakes out, it appears he will at least have some good options ahead of him.
