It looks like Neil Lennon is ready to let one of Celtic’s strikers leave in this transfer window and is open to listening to loan offers.

Celtic have struggled with their strikers this season. While Edouard has been brilliant as expected, there has not been much in the name of backup. Leigh Griffiths and Vakoun Issouf Bayo have combined to provide just 5 goals and struggled to remain fit for any considerable length of time. But even in the midst of all this, summer signing Jonathan Afolabi has not managed to make a single appearance for the Hoops.

The Irish striker was signed in the summer when he was let go of by Southampton. And while he has impressed for Celtic’s developmental sides, first-team football at Parkhead still seems quite far away. As a result, a loan move to a lower league side seems to be an interesting option.

According to Football Insider, multiple English League One and League Two sides are interested in his services. And the report further claims that Neil Lennon is willing to listen to offers for the youngster.

Having come through the youth ranks at Southampton, Afolabi is no stranger to English football. And that is probably the reason why he is attracting interest from English clubs willing to take a risk on the youngster. Unfortunately, the report does not name the clubs that are interested in the striker’s services.

With Patryk Klimala now at the club and Leigh Griffiths looking like a man determined to win back his place in the team, Afolabi is most likely to spend the rest of the season in the developmental sides as well if he decides to stay at Parkhead. On the other hand, a loan move to a lower league side could provide him with some valuable first-team football. The choice should be pretty simple.
