Neil Lennon confirms Celtic interest in Tottenham star

Celtic boss Neil Lennon that he and the club do in fact have interest in one of Tottenham’s stars, and a former Hoops legend.
Celtic have brought in two players this transfer window already in Polish-striker Patryk Klimala and Ivorian-midfielder Ismaila Soro. The Hoops had set out to snag a striker and midfielder in January at the very minimum. However, Hoops boss Neil Lennon has teased that there may be more on the way.
The biggest rumour swirling around is that of a reunion with former Celtic legend and current Tottenham player Victor Wanyama. Since last summer, Celtic fans have been clamoring to bring back the once fan-favourite Victor Wanyama.
His experience, and skill would surely fill up a hole in the lineup, as well as provide added leadership to what is a fairly young squad. However, despite interest, there is one issue standing in the way of a reunion.
Speaking with The Herald, Neil Lennon admits he likes the idea of Victor Wanyama, but explains the issue holding back the reunion:
"“He’s in my thoughts. But could we afford him? I doubt it very much.“The problem with Victor is where do you fit him in with bringing Soro in, if we have Brown, Bitton, McGregor, Ntcham. I don’t think that’s going to be an option. I wouldn’t have thought so.”"
Victor Wanyama’s weekly wages however near £65,000, which means that Celtic is unlikely to bring in Victor Wanyama on loan unless he is willing to take a pay cut, or if Tottenham is able to throw in some type of cash in the deal (unlikely).
On top of that hurdle, Neil Lennon makes a good point: where would Victor Wanyama slot in? The goal for the Hoops is the development of younger players. By adding an experienced star such as Wanyama, the Hoops would have a great chance at winning nine-in-a-row and making a deep run in Europe, but would likely come at the cost of the development of younger players.
Despite interest in the former Celtic legend, it would appear there are too many hurdles to make the reunion a reality.
