Lennon provides Griffiths update amid Celtic exit rumours
Neil Lennon has provided a transfer update on Leigh Griffiths amid rumours that the striker could be on the way out of Celtic.
Gone are the days when Leigh Griffiths used to strike fear into the hearts of the defenders. In 2015/16, the Scot managed to score 40 goals in a single season. This time around he has managed just three goals for Celtic, as he struggles to even get on the pitch most weeks.
Personal issues and injuries have robbed Scottish football of one of its biggest talents of this generation. And at 29 years of age, time is quickly running out on him to return to his best.
After the arrival of Polish striker, Patryk Klimala, at Parkhead in a €4-million deal, rumours have also started to float around that Griffiths could soon be on his way out of the club as he continues to slide down in the pecking order. He himself provided fuel to the fire by liking a tweet that questioned his future at the club and then deleting his Twitter account after receiving messages from Celtic fans that might not have been very pleasant.
Now Neil Lennon has provided an update on the future of Griffiths. While speaking with the Daily Star, the Celtic manager said:
"“We have Odsonne in and Griff and Griff is looking good. He had a good Dubai trip and trained well again this week so maybe not.“We will see how things go over the next few weeks. I can’t comment on speculation surrounding any player really.“There has been a lot in the last few months about Griff, but he is hungry and he wants to play and he has made that pretty clear to me.”"
Judging by Lennon’s comments it looks like Griffiths will be staying at the club. The same cannot be said of Bayo though, who has failed to make a mark since joining the club and apparently asked to be sent out on loan recently after the club signed Klimala.
