Griffiths drops transfer hint after Celtic sign Klimala
Leigh Griffiths cryptically shut down his Twitter account amid Celtic exit rumours after the arrival of Patryk Klimala.
Leigh Griffiths is clearly not the same player that he was at his peak. Once the most feared striker in all of Scotland, he has been a shell of his former self for quite some time now after struggling with both injuries and personal issues off the pitch. The Scot who once scored 40 goals in a season and took home all individual honours, has managed just 3 goals for Celtic this season as he has become nothing more than a bench player.
Still only 29 years old, there are hopes that Griffiths can rediscover his best form. But his Celtic career now stands on thin ice after the club announced the signing of Polish striker, Patryk Klimala. The 21-year-old has scored 7 goals in 18 appearances this season and is rated very highly in his native Poland. And if he does managed to find his feet, that could bring the curtains down on Griffiths’ Parkhead stay.
Understandably, rumours have started to float around regarding the striker’s exit. As reported by Video Celts, Griffiths provided fuel to the fire by liking a tweet that talked about his days at Parkhead being numbered. Then he deleted his Twitter account and it is hard to judge what is going on.
Klimala’s arrival means that either Griffiths or Bayo will probably leave the club in this transfer window in order to make place in the squad. The Scot has sporadic appearances from the bench over the past month after returning from injury. Bayo on the other hand has not been involved at all. And it might be likely he is the one on his way out instead of the more experienced Celtic man.
While it is hard to read his actions, Griffiths deleting his Twitter might just be him trying to keep away from all the rumours as he tries to focus on returning to form.
