Queens Park Rangers join Celtic in race for 24-goal striker

Celtic and Queens Park Rangers were both seen scouting the same striker over the weekend, and transfer talk could soon heat up.
Celtic and Queens Park Rangers were seen scouting Dundee United striker Lawrence Shankland over the weekend according to the Scottish Sun and the Daily Record. Rumours of the Hoops being interested in the 24-goal striker are nothing new, but a revamped interest is of note.
Lawrence Shankland has scored 24 goals this season in 24 appearances. He has tacked on another three assists to go along with the goals. The 24-year old is in incredible form, as he scored a hat-trick while both Celtic and Queens Park Rangers’ scouts were in attendance this weekend.
Many Hoops fans want Lawrence Shankland to make his way to Parkhead, and you can count us in that mix. His production, despite being in the second tier of Scottish football, has been eye-opening.
However, he will most likely not be on the move this winter transfer window as HITC has pointed out:
"“While Celtic could do with a striker like Shankland who is in form and is 24 years of age for the second half of the season, with United aiming to clinch automatic promotion to the Scottish Premiership, it is hard to see them sell their star player in the January transfer window.”"
Much like Stoke City striker Tyrese Campbell, the Hoops, or other interested clubs, may have to wait until the summer transfer window to make a move for the coveted 24-year old striker.
Another item to note, if Lawrence Shankland continues to maintain his current level of production, his transfer fee will likely continue to grow. While this is surely what Dundee United are hoping for, it is worth keeping an eye out to see if the Hoops will make a move for the striker even if he has a higher price tag.
