Celtic transfer target sends warning to interested clubs
Patryk Klamila’s warning to all the clubs that are interested in signing him this January could cause a change in Celtic’s transfer plans.
Celtic have been looking far and wide for a new striker in the transfer market, who can provide cover for Odsonne Edouard. The Frenchman has been in brilliant form this season, scoring 16 goals and assisting 15 in just 31 appearances and has a strong case for being the best player currently playing in Scotland.
There has not been much in the name of back-up for Edouard though. Leigh Griffiths is clearly not the man that he once was and has struggled with both form and fitness throughout the season. On the other hand, Vakoun Issouf Bayo has never managed to find his feet since joining Celtic. The duo have combined to score just 4 goals this season.
As a result, a number of strikers have been linked with the club in this transfer window. And one of them is Polish striker, Patryk Klimala. He currently plays for Polish first division side, Jagiellonia Bialystok. The 21-year-old has scored 7 goals in 18 appearances this season and is being linked with a move away from his native Poland with a number of clubs interested.
The striker is rated at €4 million and he seems very open to the prospect of a move away from the club. But he is not going to be satisfied with sitting on the bench. As reported by The Scottish Sun, Klimala said:
"“First of all, I don’t want to be the fourth choice, only the first.“I want to develop, so I will also choose a league that will give me that.“If someone wants me and it is a good option, I will go and fight for my own.“I don’t know what will result, but the talks will definitely start in January.“From what I know, and I don’t know much, they were teams from Italy and Denmark.“My manager is to call me only when there are specific offers on the table.”"
It is unlikely though that he will be able to dislodge Edouard from the first-team anytime soon if ever. Edouard has scored more top flight goals this season than Klimala has scored in his entire career. Thus, Celtic must rethink their transfer plans if the 21-year-old is adamant that he will not be playing second fiddle to anyone.
