Neil Lennon has revealed that he will change Celtic’s approach in future games against Rangers after being dominated in recent derbies.

Neil Lennon will be very aware of the fact that he needs to make some changes in his tactics when Celtic take on Rangers in the future after being completely dominated by Steven Gerrard’s side in their previous two meetings. The warning signs were their earlier in the month itself when the Hoops walked out of Hampden Park with the League Cup trophy despite being the second best team on the day in all departments.

On that occasion, Fraser Forster’s heroics in goal and Alfredo Morelos’ wasteful finishing had saved the day. There was no such luck at Parkhead though as Rangers were the better team again and managed to win this time around with goals from Ryan Kent and Nikola Katic sealing a rare victory at Celtic Park.

Now the Hoops have had a few weeks to themselves in order to reflect on the loss and see how they can cope with the Rangers’ growing threat to the Scottish crown. The team is currently in Dubai, training during the winter break before returning to action on 18th January against Partick Thistle in the Scottish Cup.

Neil Lennon has now even admitted that Celtic might need to change their approach when taking on their Glasgow rivals in the future. While speaking with Sky Sports, the manager said:

"“We need to look at how we set up and maybe change the way that we play to address the lack of pressure that we’ve put on them in the last couple of games.“We’ve looked at the game three of four times now and there are aspects of the game – in terms of personnel or a change of formation – that we can work on.”"

The first step to making any improvement is to locate where the problems lie in the first place. And it is nice to see that Lennon is looking to bring changes to his game plan in order to cope with Steven Gerrard’s side the next time around. Lesser managers would have just swept it under the rug and enjoyed the Dubai sun.
