Scott Sinclair is so desperate to leave Celtic that he is willing to even take a pay cut just to seal a move away from Parkhead.

Scott Sinclair has endured a nightmare since the departure of Brendan Rodgers. Once Celtic’s main man, he has been reduced to a reserve player under Neil Lennon and is desperate to leave Parkhead in this transfer window after making just 7 appearances this season.

Sinclair joined the club in 2016 and was an instant hit. He scored 25 goals in his debut campaign at Celtic and was named both PFA Scotland and Celtic Players’ Player of the Year. And although he has not managed to hit those heights since, he remained a major part throughout the last three seasons. That has changed in 2019/20 though with the winger finding it hard to even make it onto the bench on most weeks.

News broke out earlier today that Sinclair had left the club’s training camp in Dubai and is now travelling to his native England in order to hold transfer talks with Preston North End. According to Football Insider, he is even willing to take a pay cut just to make sure that the move goes through upon clearing medical.

Sinclair currently earns £35,000-per-week at Parkhead, a salary that might be too difficult for the Championship side to pay. As a result, the 30-year-old has informed Preston North End that he is flexible about his salary. This just shows how desperate the winger is for first-team football, something that he has not received from Lennon this season.

The Englishman has been a brilliant player for Celtic over the last three seasons but as of now, he is firmly behind both Mohamed Elyounoussi and Mikey Johnston in the pecking order. And it is hard to blame him for wanting to leave the club in order to play regular football. We can only wish him well for whatever the future holds for him.
