Kris Boyd seems to be still celebrating the rare event of his former side beating Celtic and ended up making some outrageous comments about the Hoops fans.

Celtic were completely dominated by Steven Gerrard’s Rangers last Sunday in what was the Hoops’ first Derby loss at Parkhead since 2010. And it was a wake up call for the club that the title race for the Scottish crown this season is much tighter than first expected.

After reigning supreme over Scottish football for almost a decade, Celtic will surely not go down without a fight and are expected to make a few signings in the January transfer window in order to tilt the title race back in their favour. Especially with a record-equaling ninth straight league title hanging in the balance, Neil Lennon will surely be thinking of ways to deal with the threat of the Rangers.

Rangers fans though are still busy basking in the glory of their success at Parkhead a week ago. If Steven Gerrard’s wild celebrations were not enough, Kris Boyd’s recent comments about the Celtic fans should tell you how much they are enjoying themselves at the moment.

In his column in The Scottish Sun, the former Rangers man wrote:

"“Celtic supporters make me laugh, they really do. This time last week they were making out Jeremie Frimpong was so good he was the new Dani Alves. Christoper Jullien was a snip at £7million, while Kristoffer Ajer was worth three times that amount.“That was nothing compared to what Odsonne Edouard was going to go for one day soon. But now? After losing to Rangers? All we hear from those fans and media cheerleaders is how the club needs to open its cheque-book and sign new players pronto.“I’m sorry, but what exactly are you expecting to happen this month? Sure, Neil Lennon will add players to his squad, but for me the team he has now is as good as it’s going to get.”"

It is not hard to understand why the waves of excitement have hit the Ibrox shores since last Sunday. After spending almost a decade on the fringes of Scottish football, they believe that the title is coming to the Rangers on the basis of just Sunday’s performance.

In fact, it is the Rangers fans who have turned after a single result and believe that they are suddenly better than a team that has won the league title eight years in a row. Maybe that is what Kris Boyd should actually be laughing at instead of the Celtic fans.
