Former Celtic manager Davie Hay makes a bold prediction about the 2019/20 Celtic and Rangers title race that will go down to the finish.

Celtic were unimpressive against Rangers during their Scottish Premiership League matchup on December 29th, and arguably even more so in the Scottish League Cup final. The Hoops won the Cup final thanks to some luck and fantastic play by Fraser Forster. However, Rangers clearly outclassed the Hoops last Sunday.

Rangers have a game in hand to the Hoops who only lead the league by two points. Rangers, much like the Hoops, have also made the Europa League Knockout round, albeit unseeded. While that is good news for the Scottish coefficient, it won’t benefit the Hoops if they cannot win the domestic league.

This title race will come right down to the wire for both sides, and the Hoops will need to look deep and hard at how they need to improve. The answers are not internally.

Former Celtic manager Davie Hay made a bold prediction in his Evening Times column about this Hoops-Rangers title race:

"“The Old Firm game was a huge disappointment for Celtic. There’s no other way to sum it up.“There are a lot of games to play still of course, and there could be slip ups either way, but the way things are going I can see the two games remaining between Celtic and Rangers being absolutely pivotal.”"

Davie Hay does not hold any punches back in regards to the Hoops’ recent performances. The Hoops have to wake up and realize that Rangers are no longer some club across town that are rebuilding. Instead, they are a true and real threat to the domestic dominance that the Hoops have developed over the last decade.

Unless Lennon or the board wake up, nine-in-a-row may be in jeopardy.
