One Celtic player who quickly became a superstar and was brought in during the previous summer transfer window didn’t expect to see as much playing time as he has.

This season has had some surprises, and many started early. From Celtic winning their group in the Europa League Group Stage, to younger players such as Jeremie Frimpong stepping up, to reunions with legendary goalkeepers.

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the season has come to Christopher Jullien, who he himself said he was surprised to get as much playing time on the pitch as he has. It seems silly to think the £7 million man would be surprised to play so much this season.

In fact, Christopher Jullien has quickly become the best centre-back on the club, even eclipsing Kristoffer Ajer in production this season. Christopher Jullien has proven he can do it all from scoring goals, to helping anchor the backline, the defender has easily become one of the bright spots of the club.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Christopher Jullien describes his surprise in playing time with the Hoops this season:

"“When I came here I didn’t expect to play in so many games. I have enjoyed it because you want to play as much as possible but it will be good to take a break”"

A three-week break should bode well for the Hoops so they can rest, and recage their emotions after a loss to Rangers in their final match before the break. Celtic will find success in the second half of the season if players like Christopher Jullien and Fraser Forster continue to outperform expectations.

Additional playmakers will need to be brought in to help infuse the club with talent. Those additions will be necessary to make a meaningful run in European competition in the Europa League.
