Rab Douglas, a former Celtic goalkeeper, believes that his former club has one key advantage over cross-town rivals, Rangers.

Celtic and Rangers are on a collision course that will eventually lead to them facing off once again next Sunday. This time, it will be for some hardware as the two Glaswegian teams will be playing for the Scottish League Cup.

The last time this two teams met up, it was at Ibrox when the Hoops stomped Rangers 2-0 in an absolutely dominating performance. But that was all the way back in September, and both of these clubs have started to figure out their identity.

The Hoops are ahead in the Scottish Premiership League table, thanks to the tie breaker. Celtic has secured the top seed out of Group E in the Europa League, while Rangers are positioned well to see their way through to the Knockout Stages.

As 67 Hail Hail has so rightfully pointed out, Rangers have been talked about over and over again as the club to beat in Scotland. This type of talk has not gone away from the media despite numerous successes from the Hoops this season. But one pundit believes in Celtic.

Rab Douglas, the former Hoops goalkeeper believes that Celtic does have an advantage over Rangers. He let The Courier in on his thoughts:

"“With Celtic already guaranteed to be playing European football in the new year and Rangers in a strong position to follow them, the Europa League is set to have an impact on the domestic title race.“It is so close at the top and hardly any points are being dropped by either of them but the longer the season goes and they are fighting on two fronts, the more significant squad depth becomes.“The two starting elevens are closely matched but when you dig deeper I think that is where Celtic have an edge. They have a huge squad and should be able to cope with Thursday, Sunday football after the turn of the year. There is a bigger question mark over whether Rangers can.”"

This advantage of depth is something the we here at The Celtic Bhoys have stressed over the last few weeks. The Scottish football schedule, combined with European football can become a lot later in the season. The Hoops have the clear advantage over Rangers, and many other clubs in the Europa League when it comes to depth.

At least someone believes in the Hoops. We sure do
