Barry Ferguson has named the Rangers player who Celtic should be worried about in the upcoming Scottish League Cup final at Hampden.

Celtic will take on Rangers in the Scottish League Cup final next month at Hampden Park. Celtic have been the top team in Scotland over the last decade, winning eight league titles in a row and completed a Treble Treble last season. Rangers on the other hand will be looking to win their first top division trophy since 2011.

Both Celtic and Rangers have started the season in impressive fashion, sitting on first and second position in the Premiership table respectively, with 31 points from the first 12 league games. The improvement at the Ibrox club has been clear since Steven Gerrard has been handed the keys to the manager’s office.

They finally look like genuine title contenders after spending years as mere pretenders. And when the two Glasgow rivals face each other at Hampden Park in the final of the Scottish League Cup next month, the Liverpool legend will have the chance to bring an end to one of the darkest phases in Rangers history.

Although their 2-0 drubbing at Ibrox to the Scottish Champions earlier this season will raise questions whether Gerrard’s side have the quality to beat their rivals. But Barry Ferguson, former Rangers midfielder and current pundit, is completely sure in the Rangers’ ability to come home with the Cup from Hampden Park. And he has named Ryan Kent as the man who could be instrumental in achieving this.

While speaking with PLZ Soccer, the former Rangers star said:

"“He is a special talent. I just like the way he carries the ball. The things he can do, either on the left flank or the right flank. Once he gets up to speed because of his previous hamstring injury, he will be a top, top player.“I thought he was the main player for Rangers last season in the Old Firm games. He stepped up to the plate. I have no doubt he will do that at Hampden because for me he is a special talent.“You don’t start off at Liverpool. And Liverpool weren’t keen on getting rid of him that’s why Rangers had to pay £7 million. I have no doubt he’ll put a top performance in.“He puts performances like he did on Sunday, I have seen him play better, but it was still a good performance. It was that first goal. That’s a special player that scores those sorts of goals and he’ll be hoping he can do that at Hampden.”"

Ryan Kent is coming back from a hamstring injury but has managed to already score 3 goals for his club this season, including two decisive goals in their 3-1 win against Hamilton Academical on Sunday. And although he has been impressive in the Old Firm Derby in the past, if the Scottish Champions are at their best in the final, it is hard to see him being the difference maker that Ferguson believes him to be.
