Odsonne Edouard was recently criticised by former Celtic star, Charlie Nicholas, for his ‘lack of celebrations’ in a bizarre rant. Now Edouard has taken to Twitter to hit back at Nicholas in spectacular fashion.

Many people believe that Odsonne Edouard is the best player breathing Scottish air at this point of time. While that might be up for debate considering the forms of his own teammates James Forrest and Ryan Christie, it is undeniable that the Frenchman is a very important cog in Neil Lennon’s Celtic wheel.

At just 21-years of age, Edouard has already scored five times in the Old Firm Derby including the opener in this season’s 2-0 win away at Ibrox. But that has not stopped Charlie Nicholas from criticising the Celtic forward. And that too for a very bizarre reason.

Charlie Nicholas played at Celtic himself and to great success, scoring 127 goals for the Hoops and winning 3 trophies. Now a pundit, Nicholas feels ‘irritated’ by Edouard’s lack of celebration when he finds the back of the net. Speaking to the Daily Record, Nicholas said:

"“Odsonne Edouard is the top striker in Scotland but Alfredo Morelos is starting to close the gap.“The Celtic frontman is a better all-round footballer, although he has this slightly annoying habit of looking too casual and uninterested a lot of the time.“It’s as if he can’t be too fussed in the so-called lesser games. The thing that irritates me more than anything is his lack of celebration when he scores.”"

Not one to take any unfounded criticism lying down, Odsonne Edouard hit back at Charlie Nicholas on Twitter and in spectacular fashion:

Nicholas’ claims against Edouard were bizarre enough to begin with and after Edouard’s comeback on Twitter, it is safe to say that the Celtic forward has come out looking like the more sensible of the two. The fact of the matter is that Edouard has found the back of the net 42 times in 94 appearances for the Hoops and considering his youth, he is only expected to get better with time.

If Edouard doesn’t end up leaving the club in the next few years, there is every chance that he will go down as a Celtic legend. He is nowhere near that level at this point of time but he has shown that kind of potential already with his penchant for showing up on the big occasions. And when the ball ripples the net, it does not matter how much or little he celebrates. He has already done his job!
