Kenny Dalglish, who enjoys legendary status at Parkhead, recently gave his verdict on the squad that Neil Lennon has assembled at Celtic Park since taking over from Brendan Rodgers.

It is safe to say that the team that Neil Lennon currently has at his disposal is vastly different to the Celtic team that Brendan Rodgers left behind. Many veterans have departed since then, new faces have come in through the door as well while a number of Rodgers’ fringe players have shined following his departure and become integral parts of the team.

Clearly the team that Rodgers had assembled had completed its phase and it was time for new faces to take over the reigns under Lennon in his second stint as manager of the club. So while the likes of Kieran Tierney, Mikael Lustig and Dedryck Boyata are no longer at at the club, players like Kris Ajer, Ryan Christie and Mikey Johnston have emerged to become regular members of the first-team.

As the period of transition loomed, the club made big money signings like Christopher Jullien, brought in big-name players on loan like Mohamed Elyounoussi while also signing youngsters like Lee O’Connor with the future in mind. On the other hand, the club lost out players like Kieran Tierney who was thought to be a pillar of the club for years to come as well as veterans like Mikael Lustig. Thus, the team currently at Celtic Park is very different from the one at the same time last year.

Now club legend, Kenny Dalglish, has come out to give his verdict on Neil Lennon’s new-look Celtic squad. In his weekly Sunday Post column, Dalglish wrote:

"“Celtic spent plenty in the transfer window, and they have assembled a really good squad, with an exciting mix of experience and potential.“Neil will be thrilled with getting Fraser Forster in, and Christopher Jullien looks like a solid and reliable central defender. He was outstanding last Sunday.“Also the addition of Greg Taylor from Kilmarnock was one he wanted to get over the line. It could have been doom and gloom with the loss of Kieran Tierney, but it has all worked out very well.”"

Dalglish certainly looks much more confident in this Celtic than he had a few weeks ago. The ex-Celtic striker had predicted a 2-2 draw between his former club and Rangers but after a dominant 2-0 win away at Ibrox, Dalglish has certainly seen something in Lennon’s side that he had not before the Old Firm Derby.
