Celtic dominated AIK in the first leg of the Europa League Playoff Round. The match was highlighted by great performances by Bolingoli, Edouard and Forrest. The momentum and boost from such a win will carry over into next week’s match.

FT: Celtic 2-0 AIK.

Initial Thoughts:

The Bhoys looked great. This type of win was the exact momentum needed ahead of the away leg portion of the tie. Boli looked good, Forrest continued to be amazing. Great all around effort.

86’: SUBSTITUTION. Rashidi in for Lundstrom for AIK.

84’: SUBSTITUTION. Bayo comes in for Edouard.

84’: AIK goalkeeper is able to ward off back to back to back shots by Ntcham, Edouard, and Morgan.

82’: SUBSTITUTION. Lewis Morgan comes in for Mikey Johnston.

81’: McGregor again comes SO close to adding another. Just wide right.

80’: McGregor takes a nice shot, but not enough space to make it work. Celtic is not letting up.

78’: Corner kick for the Hoops. Christie will take it again. Seventh corner of the game. Brown almost made something of it. 0/7 on the day.

74’: YELLOW CARD. AIK’s Lundstrom is booked with a penalty against Johnston

73’: GOAL!!!! Edouard has a BEAUTIFUL finish! Celtic 2-0 AIK.

72’: SUBSTITUTION. AIK’s Obasi in for Sigporsson

70’: SUBSTITUTION. AIK’s Saletros in for Bahoui.

67’: Edouard has a great opportunity. Challenges inside the box and the referee calls a foul. Bonkers.

65’: Boli does a great job of disrupting the AIK attack. He has been great this evening.

64’: Mikey Johnston can’t gain control, AIK goal kick.

60’: One hour in and the Hoops looks great. Forrest has 5 goals in 5 games. The pressure has been relentless.

52’: AIK get a corner for the first time in what seems like ages. Poor execution by AIK.

51’: Christie brings it all the way down the field and takes a great shot on goal. AIK GK is able to handle it easily.

47’: GOAL!!! James Forrest puts The Bhoys on the board!! Celtic 1-0 AIK!

45’: We are back! Celtic gets us started in the second half!

HT: Celtic 0-0 AIK.

Initial Thoughts:

Celtic has done a fantastic job at controlling the pace of play and being aggressive on the offensive side of the pitch. A goal is only a matter of time. Boli has looked good despite the YC. If the same effort and intensity is kept up, this is the Hoops’ match to lose.

44’: YELLOW CARD.  Bolingoli is the culprit this time around.

40’: Five minutes left in the half. Still scoreless. A goal here by Celtic would do well for spirits going into the break.

37’: YELLOW CARD. AIK #7 Larsson booked with the YC.

36’: Tries to cross the ball into the box with no luck. Missed the mark. Still looking good today though.

35’: Corner kick from AIK. Easily handled by the Bhoys.

30’: The Hoops continues to pressure AIK. The tempo has been fantastic.

26’: Corner for Celtic. Christie takes it again.

25’: After a slow first ten minutes, Celtic has dominated possession and have had numerous attempts on goal.

20’: Mikey Johnston JUST wide right of goal. Great attempt.

18’: Fantastic attack launched by Celtic. If they keep up the same pressure a goal won’t be far behind.

16’: Edoaurd puts the ball in the net after a through ball from Ajer. Unfortunately, Edouard was offsides.

14’: Jullien does a great job at challenging AIK. Allows the Celtic the free kick.

10’: Ten minutes in abs Celtic has not looked impressive. However, AIK has looked less impressive. Make of that how you wish.

8’: Foul on Mikey Johnston committed by AIK. Free kick.

7’: Corner kick for Celtic. Christie takes it. No damage done against AIK.

5’: After 5-min in, not much in the way of opportunities for either side have presented themselves.

2’: First goal kick for AIK as Forrest could not run down the pass from Ajer.
