Huge amounts of fan backlash is easily spotted across all forms of social media after the Celtic loss to CFR Cluj and narrow win against Dunfermline. Much of the anger has been funneled towards Celtic boss Neil Lennon’s decision-making within those two matches. However, Celtic legend Kenny Dalglish believes Neil Lennon is the right man at the helm for Celtic.

Tons of noise has surrounded Celtic lately, the loudest of which has been criticism for Neil Lennon’s choices. Outrage is often the first emotion that fans convey when match results do not go their way.

Despite what fans may think of Kenny Dalglish, his support and positive message for the club and its fanbase is needed at this point in the early season.

In Kenny Dalglish’s Sunday Post column, the message of unity is conveyed to all Celtic fans. Kenny Dalglish states:

"“This is exactly the time when there needs to be unity at Celtic, with everyone pulling in the same direction.“So the last thing Neil Lennon needs at this delicate time is some of the Celtic supporters being overly critical.”"

The legends word should ring true to most Celtic fans’ ears, and a level of pragmatism should be used when looking at Celtic’s recent performances. If the Champions League stint is removed, and the match against Dunfermline allowed to be chalked up to bad luck (which it should), that leaves only excellent performances for the Hoops.

The Bhoys have scored twelve goals in their first two Scottish Premier League matches. The Hoops are sitting atop the Scottish Premier League standings. While it is disappointing for many fans, the Hoops have an opportunity to make the Europa League Group Stage and continue playing in European competition this season. Not all teams are allowed this opportunity.

Before anyone jumps on this, yes, we agree that Celtic is capable of much more and historically that is true. However, as things stand, the Hoops should make the most of the opportunities in front of them and prove to the fan base that they do indeed belong in the Champions League. Trust when it is said that the players and coaches want to play at the highest levels just as badly as the fans want them to.

Despite what fans believe are poor decisions by the skipper, Dalglish continues to believe in Lennon. It is far too early to be calling for the firing or resignation of Lennon after one loss. That being said, fans should expect more from their manager considering the club is a world class organization.

In the meantime, let us all take heed to the legendary Kenny Dalglish’s words and unite behind this club as they begin their new journey in the Europa League and continue their quest for the elusive “nine in a row”!
