Celtic will look to get back to winning ways against Motherwell after their 2-0 defeat to Hibernian at Easter Road on Sunday.

Stephen Robinson’s side travel to Celtic Park to face the Scottish champions licking their wounds and with some key players out through injury, just two weeks after securing a point against them at Fir Park.

Speaking to the official Celtic club website, James Forrest admitted that the players were looking to put the defeat to Hibs behind them and put Motherwell to the sword.

He said: “There were a couple of goals we could have done better with throughout the team. It’s not nice losing. The way we conceded the goals on Sunday was disappointing. It’s good we have a game so quickly after that. The games come thick and fast so we just need to look forward. We have a hard game tomorrow, so hopefully we will rectify the mistakes, get a good result and get back to winning ways like it should be.

“It was a hard game against Motherwell two weeks ago. They always make it hard and they’ll be full of confidence given their result at the weekend. Every time we play them we know it’s going to be hard, so we’ll need to make sure we’re ready from the start.”

With injuries a concern for Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, the schedule of four games in 11 days before the winter break will be less than welcoming but they have been boosted with the news that a number of their key players have returned to training ahead of the double header against Aberdeen and Rangers.

Forrest added: “We have four games before the winter break. Every game is going to be difficult, so we need to start with tomorrow, get three points and move on from there. We’ve had a successful run in this period before. We have a strong squad and players pushing for places. We have four games and they’re all big games. We need to make sure we turn up, give everything and then hopefully the performances get us results.

“We focus on ourselves. We go into every game confident in ourselves. We know the ability we have in the squad so we need to keep to showing that. If you’re a few points behind, you can get back. We showed a lot of character before and we’re definitely going to need to show that again.”

Possible line-up v Motherwell

[4-2-3-1] Gordon; Tierney*, Benkovic, Simunovic, Lustig*; Brown, McGregor, Sinclair, Rogic, Forrest; Edouard.

Possible Subs: Bain, Izaguirre, Ajar, Ntcham, Hayes, Morgan, Mulumbu.

*Both Tierney and Lustig face late fitness tests after suffering a hip injury and concussion respectively. If they fail to make the team then Izaguirre should slot in at left back and Ajer in at right back.
