Controversial!

Just like Lustig, Brown has been immense for Celtic ever since Gordon Strachan signed him from Hibs in 2007. But I just think his time as a first-team regular is up and with a contract on offer from the A-League it may be time for the former Scotland international to head down under to finish his career in the sun.

He gave us the iconic Broony, he has won eight league titles, four Scottish Cups and five League Cups. But above all, he has led by example, with a desire, fight and passion befitting of a Celtic captain.

He might be public enemy number one among opposition fans, but for Celtic supporters, Brown has been a godsend.

This season, Brown has failed to get back to the form that guided Celtic to their incredible invincible run – like many others – but he has been plagued by injury this season and there is something lacking. The fight and passion are still there for all to see, as is the cheeky chappy who loves to wind up opposition players – but he seems to be off the pace and the number of games that Celtic have played over the past three seasons looks to have finally taken their toll on the 33-year-old.

His contract is up at the end of the season and even if he is offered a new one year deal I would not be too disappointed to see him remain – but Celtic must look for a successor ahead of this summer after missing out on John McGinn at the start of the season.

If he does reject a move to the A-League, I hope he ends his playing days at Celtic on a high and takes up a coaching position. His experience, passion for the game and club itself would be a great addition to Celtic’s coaching setup.
