2) Celtic used their home advantage, so did Zenit

The atmosphere at Celtic Park is one of the best in Europe, no doubt about it. More goals had to have happened at Paradise for the squad and fans alike to feel comfortable in this one. Celtic could have done it as well.

Yet, they didn’t. Zenit took complete advantage of being at home in this one. Knocking home those two early goals really put Celtic behind in the game of momentum, and of course, the tie.

The second goal must have been the realization of accepting the L. A goal from that range, with the ball heading straight at Dorus de Vries, with the crowd going nuts had to put the Hoops all out of sort.

The atmosphere affected the whole team today. Some could say that they are at the highest level of football, and they should ignore the noise. However, the same can be said about any opposition that walks into Celtic Park on any given day.

Weather in Moscow isn’t friendly either. This may be a reach, but maybe there was a bit of a concern with the media hyping up the issue of security at the stadium as well.

It was a frantic environment for the Bhoys, and the two goals really sent them into the abyss with the combination of effects.
