Maybe it was an unexpected outcome for Celtic. Yet, it’s a critical 1-0 victory heading into the next leg at Zenit.

A 78 minute cracker from Callum McGregor propelled the Bhoys to a close, but important win at Paradise. The tie is now set for the next leg, with Zenit needing to pull of a win of two goals or more to advance.

Two goals for Celtic would have been nice, but a victory at the end of the day should not be taken for granted.

Celtic Park was buzzing right from the start. Supporters never seemed to take their seat which mirrored momentum on the pitch for the Hoops.

Zenit is a tough side. The win in this fixture goes to show that despite Celtic’s recent spell of decent at best form, they can still pull the cards in the most crucial of circumstances.

The next leg takes place in less than a week from the time of this piece. For now, however, let’s focus on some takeaways from this win from the Celts.
