Mocking the Champions League draw, Celtic style
We’re just about 12 hours to the big moment of the season for Celtic and 31 other European football teams.
You know…the Champions League group stage draw. It is usually where Celtic meet up with Barcelona and get in to a group that they have no chance in.
Will history repeat itself or will Celtic get some good fortune when the draw starts on Thursday in Monaco? Only time will tell…unless you’re too anxious like we are and we decide to throw a Mock Champions League draw party.
So, if you can’t wait until Thursday night/morning (depending on your location) then we’ve got you covered.
The rules were really simple…no team can be drawn in to the same group as another team from its own country. Celtic don’t have to worry about that and it is a club that can and will fit in to any group as a member of pot 4.
Our draw took place on Twitter and was done much the same as it will be on Thursday. Well, minus the fancy soccer balls with the team names in them and minus the star power that will be in Monaco too.
That said, let us take a look at all four pots before we get to the draw.
Seeded teams (pot 1): Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Benfica, Chelsea, Shakhtar Donetsk, Monaco and Spartak Moscow
Pot 2: Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Paris-St. Germain, Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla, Manchester City, FC Porto and Manchester United
Pot 3: Napoli, Tottenham Hotspur, FC Basel, Olympiacos, Anderlecht, Liverpool, Roma and Beskitas
Pot 4: Celtic, CSKA Moscow, Sporting Lisbon, APOEL, Feyenoord, NK Maribor and RB Leipzig
So…on to filling out the groups, which we did on Twitter and we suggest you check out the timeline for a full recap of putting the groups together.
With that said, here are the groups from our Mock Draw…
