Celtic have drawn Neil McCann’s Dundee side at Dens Park in the quarter final of the BetFred league cup.

The hoops sailed into the quarters with a thumping 5-0 win against Kilmarnock on Tuesday night.

Brendan Rodgers fielded a much changed team from the season opener against Hearts and still managed to trounce the East Ayrshire side.

For the second consecutive round Rodgers will be up against a former Sevco player. After Tuesdays dismantling of Lee McCullough’s Killie side, the Irish man will be pitted against former Sky Sports Pundit Neil McCann.

Dundee FC

I predict that McCann’s Dundee side will put up more of a fight than Killie whom I suspect will be in a relegation dog fight this season. ‘The Dee’ booked their place in the quarters with a 2-1 win against their closest rivals Dundee United.

They may have fallen to a similar scoreline when they played Ross County on the opening weekend but I believe the dark blues do possess some players that can be a handful.

Former Celtic players Darren O’Dea and Paul McGowan now ply their trade at Dundee and have shown Celtic fans first hand what they can be capable of. Current Celtic player Scott Allen will be unavailable for selection.

Tunisian striker Sofien Moussa is another that could prove himself to be quite a handful up top. Moussa has averaged just under a goal in every three games in his professional career.

Elsewhere in the draw some tasty looking ties could be taking place all over the country. Lets have a look at them.

Hibernian vs Livingston

Neil Lennon’s newly promoted Hibs side will welcome a familiar side in Livingston. ‘Livi’ who are managed by David Hopkin will look to pull off a shock in Leith however, I think Lennon’s Hibs will one again prove too strong for them.

Partick vs Rangers

Sevco face a short trip across Glasgow in the quarters as they come up against Partick Thistle. Thistle will be full of confidence after their emphatic 3-0 win away to St Johnstone in the last round. Lets hope their form continues.

Motherwell vs Aberdeen

The last quarter final was the last to be finalized as Motherwell needed extra-time to defeat Ross County 3-2. The ‘well’ showed great character to get through although they will need more if they are to beat Derek McInnes Aberdeen side.

The ties are to take place between 19-21 September.
