5 American players Celtic should be targeting

No seriously, Celtic have a real need for cover in the center of defense and Walker Zimmerman is a perfect fit for that cover. He likely needs some seasoning on the European level, but that can be provided on the training pitch no doubt.

At 24 years old, Zimmerman is getting plenty of attention from abroad. That includes reported interest from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim. The reported price tag? Just $1.5 million.

That is certainly in the doable range for Celtic.

Hoffenheim are apparently intriguing to Zimmerman due to their potential for Champions League football this season. Hmmm, I seem to recall some team in green and white hoops that have the same designs.

I’d personally love to see this happen. It is need for cover, need for personal development and the lower price tag than most would expect. However, if Hoffenheim are seriously interested, it may be difficult for Zimmerman to turn that offer down.

Go for it Celtic, there is a whole lot of upside and very little downside, especially with the noise being made about Eric Sviatchenko being on Besiktas’ radar.
