Sometimes there is nothing better than taking delight in the misery of your bitter rivals. However, lately there has been something better for Celtic fans — taking pleasure in the utter ignorance and delusion of Sevco chairman Dave King.

As Celtic ramp up to playing the Champions League qualifiers, Sevco have overhauled nearly their entire squad. That’s what happens when you have a 39-point gulf between you and the team at the top I guess (we wouldn’t know what that’s like).

It’s also what happens when you talked all sorts of rubbish about a “Drive for 55” and winning the title this past season. But, none of that has deterred Sevco chairman Dave King from going full-blow delusional on us this offseason.

So, we thought we’d be happy to break down his latest utter nonsense. You see, King believes that Celtic’s now six-in-a-row league titles are worthless. After all, without Sevco up at the top of the Scottish football pyramid what is the league really?

Here is what King had to say today via The Daily Record:

"“I don’t think there’s any chance of them doing that before us winning another league title.Celtic have six titles but the concept of nine-in-a-row is a competition between Rangers and Celtic. So if Rangers went into the English Premier League and Celtic stayed behind in Scotland and won 20 league titles, there would be no point them saying to Rangers fans, ‘We’ve won 20 in a row.’ It’s irrelevant if Rangers are not there. So it’s a challenge among ourselves.”"

Things didn’t get much better after that either. He went on to boast about a club that has done nothing in its short time of existence.

“They’ve got the titles but they haven’t got six-in-a-row in competition with Rangers,” said King.

“That only recommenced last season.

“So as far as Rangers are concerned, Celtic haven’t got six in a row.

“They’ve got two. And they’ll never get to 10. They won’t even get close.”

Really? Talk about hubris on a guy, huh?

I mean, is it conceivable that Sevco or Aberdeen catch us one of these next four years? Sure…anything is possible. But, let’s actually wait to do the talking after you actually even come close to competing with us there Mr. King? Just a mild suggestion.

Then there’s the fact that Sevco were brutal just a few months ago last we checked. You know, with Aberdeen finishing this past season 16 points clear of Sevco for second place. Pay no mind to the fact that it was the leadership of this club seven years ago that put Sevco in the place to be called Sevco in the first place.

King may be talking to build up his side, but is that really a wise thing? All it seems to have done is piss off an already plenty motivated Celtic side.

King’s delusional statements haven’t gone unnoticed by Celtic players at all. Star striker Leigh Griffiths smacked King down, rightly pointing out now is not the time for Rangers to be talking about anything.

Oh, and those eight signings made so far this offseason? Ya, even your own former players are taking the piss. But, go ahead and continue to prop your club up as anything but the joke they are.

Perhaps you would have some room to talk to us the next time your club wins a treble, goes undefeated and has a nearly 40-point gap atop the division. Last time we checked it has never happened and will never happen to your Sevco.

Enjoy whatever it is you are taking these days, because it sure seems like some strong stuff.
