Most Goals Scored in a Season

The record for most goals in a season stands at 105, and it was set by the amazing 2003-04 Celtic squad. Friday’s three-goal barrage gave the Hoops 100 goals on the season with two league matches to go.

Naturally breaking the record means six goals in two games. It is something that could be totally doable for this squad.

Over the first 20 matches of the season Celtic averaged 2.7 goals per game and cracked four or more goals in seven of those 20 matches. In the last 16 matches, Celtic are averaging 2.8 goals per game and have notched four or more goals in six of those last 16 matches.

That includes five against Sevco and four against St. Johnstone in two of the last three league matches played.

Reaching this goal is far from a certainty, but if any team is capable of averaging at least three goals a game in Scotland, Celtic is that squad. What may hinder this group from getting to that point is the squad rotation going on and the focus on winning the last trophy of the season in a few weeks time.

Couple that with Moussa Dembele being out for the rest of the season and it will take a good effort against Partick Thistle and Hearts.
