Southampton for Sviatchenko

Now we’ve gone to the completely ridiculous. If we’re to believe the papers, Celtic will have seen three-quarters of their starting defense off to life in England. That’s just ridiculous on its face.

According to The Sun, the move for Sviatchenko would be made with the sad news of Virgil van Dijk possibly out long-term with an ankle injury. Heck, if one good Celtic central defender worked, why not dip in for another one?

This rumor also included the news that his agent was in Glasgow with the hopes of a deal being done.

Of the three defenders, perhaps Sviatchenko is the most likely to have actually been gone. Such is the nature of a suddenly in-form player like Dedryck Boyata in the mix.

Still, having four quality options at center back is never a bad thing and it was always hard to see Sviatchenko leaving at this point. Trophies and glory forever or battling against relegation at Leicester or battling for position at Southampton?

It should be an easy choice for anyone not completely motivated by money alone.
