Celtic have a long history of getting themselves in to some of the toughest groups in Champions League play. This season was no different with the likes of Barcelona, Borussia Monchenlgadbach and Manchester City joining Celtic in its group for the Champions League.

Getting out of that group would’ve taken a miracle, and no such miracle was coming for the Bhoys. Instead, Celtic finished last the group with just three points. However, two of those three points came against English giants Manchester City.

No result was more unexpected than the one the Hoops got in September, especially on the heels of a 7-0 thrashing at the hands of Barcelona in the previous group stage match.

But, Scott Brown was not about to let that kind of things snowball and what proceeded was an incredible personal and team performance against Pep Guardiola’s previously perfect City side.

Brown completed 71 of his 72 passes on the night and it was Man City, not Celtic chasing the match for a point for the majority of the night. Without Brown’s bossing of the midfield, it doesn’t happen either.

It was a master class by Brown and certainly a night to put in the European memory bank at Paradise.
