Lots of people will have taken notice of the way Celtic defeated RB Leipzig this week. It was certainly a stand-out performance this season. Importantly the Hoops' defence looked sound too, something that has often not been the case in Europe when up against top-level competition. In the previous match, they had kept a clean sheet away against Atalanta as well.

Fans were delighted to see Cameron Carter-Vickers and Auston Trusty pair up successfully in the heart of the backline, Liam Scales was strong as ever after being brought on as a substitute.

That followed the successful Trusty and Scales partnership in the draw against Atalanta in Bergamo. It looks like a strong centre-back trio for Brendan Rodgers to depend upon.

Elsewhere though, the likes of Gustaf Lagerbielke will be looking on and realising that any faint hope of a Celtic comeback is now as good as gone. He had struggled for playing time last season and his loan move in the summer to Dutch side FC Twente looked very sensible. The Swedish international needed game time, to rebuild his confidence and get his career back on track.

That’s not yet going entirely to plan though. So far Lagerbielke has yet to start for his new club in the Eredivisie. He has made only five appearances and played a little over 200 minutes of football in total this season. As reported by The Scottish Sun, the Swede said:

"Of course I have been frustrated because I want to play for Twente since my loan move from Celtic.

"But I have had to accept, the team are playing well and the guys in my position have been excellent.

"Waiting for your chance is the hardest thing as a footballer, but that's how it works.

"When the chance comes, I have to be ready."

An injury to one of the players ahead of him, Mees Hilgers, looks likely to allow Lagerbielke to step in. He started his first match for FC Twente on Wednesday night in their Europa League game against Nice, earning a 2-2 draw.

Lagerbielke had decent form when he signed for Celtic from IF Elfsborg in the Summer of 2023. But he hasn't shown enough since then, although he has had a few big moments for the Hoops.
