Celtic fans would have been very excited to see the club’s provisional squad to face Hearts as it marked the return of one of their superstars from injury.
Celtic’s injury issues would not be news to anyone who has followed the club this season. The Scottish club have one of the toughest schedules in world football as they regularly compete for three domestic titles and are expected to be competitive in European competitions as well, which they have to reach by going through a rigorous qualification phase.
As a result, it is only natural for some of their stars to break down from the insane amount of football that they play on a regular basis. One star who has done particularly well to stay relatively injury-free is Ryan Christie. The playmaker has been the shining light for the Hoops this season, scoring 16 goals and providing 11 assists in just 27 appearances.
But even the Scot has missed the last few games through injury. Thankfully, it is not a long term issue though as Christie has been named in the provisional squad to take on Hearts tomorrow. Earlier, Neil Lennon had told BBC Sportsound:
“We’re hoping Ryan will be available and we’ll assess Johnny. He’s still a bit sore in his shoulder. Moi won’t be available. It is the still the same stress reaction in the foot, he needs complete rest.”
And now the playmaker has made it to the provisional squad in what is surely a huge boost for the Scottish Champions. Unfortunately, Mohamed Elyounoussi will spend some more time out with injury.
Here’s the Celtic squad that will take on Hearts on Wednesday:
