Celtic legend, Chris Sutton doled out some high praise for one Celtic superstar in particular after a great performance against St. Mirren on Wednesday.
In a match where not much was going Celtic, at least in the first half, one man in particular drew the eye, and praise of Celtic legend, and former player, Chris Sutton. His man of the match appeared to be the one and only James Forrest.
As most fans know by now, James Forrest had just signed a lucrative four-year extension that would see him stay with the club through 2023, just prior to the match against St. Mirren. During a match that looked as if St. Mirren could pull one over on Celtic, Mohamed Elyounoussi and James Forrest came to the rescue early in the second half to secure the victory.
James Forrest added the second and final goal of the match onto Celtic’s total by banging one in from a rebound off of Odsonne Edouard‘s shot. It did not get past anyone that James Forrest had scored a goal on the same day he signed his new deal.
Chris Sutton took to Twitter to praise the lad on his performance, but also on his decision to stay with Celtic for what could be the remainder of his career:
James Forrest has always been one of the most productive and consistent players to wear the Hoops. His contract was a great move on the front office’s part, as well as his. Celtic fans love nothing more than loyalty, and James Forrest has proved time and time again he is a Celtic man through and through.
