Watch Karamoko Dembele score on his return from injury while Jonathan Afolabi also got his first goal in Celtic colours as he scored for the reserve side against Morton.
Karamoko Dembele made a triumphant comeback from injury by scoring on his return for Celtic in a reserve game against Morton. The starlet had been sidelined over the past month with a foot injury and came on as a second half substitute for summer signing, Liam Burt, and wasted no time in making his mark on the match. He found the back of the net in the 87th minute, securing a 4-2 win for his side.
Summer arrival Jonathan Afolabi also got in on the action by scoring the opener. The forward joined Celtic after he was let go of by Southampton and will be looking to make the jump from the reserve team to the senior team sooner rather than later.
Speaking of the senior team, Dembele will be looking to overcome his injury issues as soon as he can and make his way back into the senior squad. Although still just 16 years of age, the winger has been touted as Celtic’s next big hope for years now. He first attracted the attention of the media when he debuted for Celtic’s under-20 side at the age of just 13.
He made his Celtic debut last year against Hearts and already has two winners’ medals to his name. But he is yet to feature for the first-team this season. But if he keeps up his scoring ways, it will only be a matter of time before he gets the call from Lennon again.
Celtic posted a highlights package from yesterday’s match against Morton on their YouTube channel.
Celtic fans will be hoping that both players can keep on performing for the reserve side throughout the season. The first team might be some way off at this moment but a string of impressive displays and you never know in football. If you are good enough, you are old enough!
