Nir Bitton is one of the most hilarious footballers on social media and the Celtic star has proven it again by posting a throwback video with Ryan Christie from his Inverness days.
Nir Bitton is one of the longest serving players in Neil Lennon’s young Celtic squad, signing with the club back in 2013 from Israeli club Ashdod and has made 192 appearances for the Hoops since then. Over the years, Bitton has transformed his game from a midfielder to a defender capable of filling in multiple positions and is currently playing in his seventh season for the Glasgow side. And his latest video with Christie just shows how long he has been at the club.
In fact, Bitton joined Celtic before Christie had even made his professional debut. As a result, the Israeli has witnessed all the stages of the attacking midfielder’s career – early days at Inverness, move to Celtic, loan spells at Inverness and Aberdeen, almost leaving Celtic under Rodgers and eventual superstardom under Lennon – from close quarters.
And now the Celtic utility man has posted a throwback video on his Instagram to wind up his current teammate. The short clip is from when Christie was still at Inverness and you can watch it here.
The video shows Bitton performing a 360 turn as Christie tries to tackle the Israeli and is completely beaten by the skill. Bitton cheekily titled added the caption “See you later Ryan” to the video on his Instagram stop.
The clip serves as a reminder to Celtic fans as to how far we have come since then. Bitton, then a midfielder with a penchant for finding the back of the net, now primarily operates as a utility defender filling in wherever he is needed. Christie on the other hand has gone from a youngster coming through the ranks at Inverness to a legitimate superstar at Celtic although there have been a lot of ups and downs on the way to the top.
