Celtic return to action after the international break and we try to predict the starting XI Celtic may field against Hamilton.
The international break is usually a time for the club to take a deep breath after a torrid start to a season. However, this year it brought a rash of injuries to key Celtic players that will affect what the starting XI will look like going into Saturday’s match.
GK: Fraser Forster
Forster has looked good in his recent performances with Celtic. A clean sheet against Rangers prior to the international break helps with his position in the pecking order. At this point, Fraser appears to be the best goalkeeper Celtic currently rosters.
RB: Hatem Abd Elhamed
The Israeli has been masterful when he has seen the pitch for Celtic. Despite the addition of Moritz Bauer, Elhamed is still the man to beat, and as it stands it is not really a competition. It would be a surprise not to see Elhamed start on Saturday.
CB: Kristoffer Ajer
Ajer suffered an injury prior to the derby match against Rangers, and did not see the pitch. After an extended period of rest with the international break, the best defensive player on the squad should see his return.
CB: Christopher Jullien
The Frenchman has to get the nod. After a “Man of the Match” performance against Rangers, it would be a shame if Jullien were the odd man out. Do not expect that to be the case on Saturday though.
LB: Greg Taylor
Hot take alert! What better way to see what the new signing is made of than during a match with Hamilton? The first Europa League tie is later in the week, and Lennon needs to know what he can expect to have at the left-back position.
