Celtic Confirms Signing of Young Goalkeeper

Earlier today Celtic FC confirmed that they have signed Tobi Oluwayemi to a three-year deal. Oluwayemi is a sixteen-year-old goalkeeper that joined from the Tottenham Spurs. Oluwayemi is a highly touted and rated goalkeeper who will begin his time with the Hoops in the reserve squad. The developmental goal for Oluwayemi should hopefully see him with the first team in the near future.

Oluwayemi faced a stop gap on his ascent through Tottenham’s system, and the move to Celtic should allow him to continue his growth. Also of note, Tobi’s brother is also a part of the Spurs system. The move away from his brother will be an interesting one to follow for the sixteen-year-old.

The Hoops seemingly made the acquisition to restock their developmental side with higher end talent. It will be interesting to watch Oluwayemi’s development within Celtic’s Reserve Squad. The Reserve Squad does not feature many fixtures after pulling out of the SPFL Reserve League in 2018. Therefore, the signing should be a clear indication that Oluwayemi is to be expected with the first team within the next few seasons.
