It would just be another Scottish Premiership game for Celtic this Sunday at Hearts. The Celts’ upcoming game, however, comes with more of a story line.
Celtic and Hearts played each other at Paradise for the first fixture of the season. Former Hearts coach Ian Cathro was released that summer, leaving the club with a rather difficult process of finding a new coach.
The Bhoys got the better of Hearts on the opening day by defeating them by a score of 4-1. After the match was when the real story took place. According to BBC Sport, Brendan Rodgers made comments about Hearts recruiting process for a new manager.
Hearts lost 4-1 at Celtic Park but the occasion was made more memorable when Daly reproached Rodgers at length afterwards after the Celtic manager had seen fit to comment on what he described as Hearts’ “confused” recruitment policy.
More from The Celtic Bhoys
The director of football for the club was Craig Levein who is currently the full-time manager. Recently, Levein revealed that he was annoyed with Rodgers’ comments that were really none of his business, courtesy of BBC Sport.
“Exactly the opposite. Listen, I was annoyed and I think Jon Daly was annoyed because it was nothing to do with him [Rodgers].
Obviously Rodgers and the rest of the Bhoys aren’t going to take Levein’s comments to heart. Celtic are currently looking to make it 70 consecutive wins domestically.
The desired win from Celtic should come with some resistance from Hearts however. Sunday’s opponent currently sits 5th on the Scottish Premiership table.
Esmael Goncalves likely has contributed the most to that position in the standings with his team-leading 6 goals.
The Hoops are rumored to come back with some power of their own. It’s been predicted that Rodgers plans on running a 4-2-3-1. The likes of Mikael Lustig, Kieran Tierney and Leigh Griffiths are all rumored to return to the starting lineup.
It should be an interesting contest for the Bhoys with a little bit of narrative behind it.
Prediction: Celtic 3-0 Hearts
