5 Players Celtic Should Be Willing to Sell in January Transfer Window
1. Efe Ambrose, D
Celtic have tried and tried and tried again to sell on Efe Ambrose, and each time it seems as if the Nigerian defender has rebuffed the move. However, it should be clear by now to the player that he is surplus to the needs of manager Brendan Rodgers.
He hasn’t sniffed the team sheet, let alone a starting role since the healthy return of Jozo Simunovic and his time at the club is certainly up. A change of scenery should do the 28-year-old defender some good. He may only have a few years left in his heyday, and sitting out every game while collecting a paycheck just seems unwise at this point.
Then again, this is a guy who has said no to a move at every chance over the last two years. Now is the time to move him, cut his losses at the club and try something new.
Perhaps the only question is if anyone is going to want him or if he’ll just ride out his contract and move on at the end of the season. Still, having his wages on the books is just dead weight and hopefully someone will take him off Celtic’s hands during January.
